2016 - My Best Year Ever
One of my main goals for this year is to become a morning person. I have been listening to a podcast by Michael Hyatt daily. He just had an episode about How To Become A Morning Person. I'm re-listening to this talk again. One way I've already started to win in this area is by going to bed earlier. I now go to bed at the same time as my wife which helps me get up a little after her. She gets up way too early.
Another spinoff of this goal is wanting to be disciplined and get into the office at the same time every day. This needs to be a regiment that leads to me following through with daily disciplines.
I'm also looking forward to the LIVING FORWARD book that is coming out! It was written by Michael Hyatt and Daniel Harkavy. It's about a Proven Plan to Stop Drifting and Get the Life You Want.
Next, I need to find an accountability partner to help me follow-thru with some of these changes.

Looking forward to Wednesday!
I'm going to try and prepare for the Wednesday soccer games. I need to finish listening to the Total Soccer Show's podcasts with previews of the three visiting teams (Houston, DC, and Seattle).
Let it be known that I have adopted the Seattle Sounders as my MLS team since every team is too far away.
Miami FC might eventually become my MLS team once David Beckham and his brand open up shop.

Carolina Challenge Cup 2014 - 1st Saturday
I'm going to start blogging again. It's been too long.
Lauren (my wife) bought me two tix to the entire tournament. Unfortunately, we could only attend the first game on Saturday. It was DC United vs. Houston Dynamo. The crowd was pretty sparse as everyone was arriving for the second game, Seattle Sounders vs. the hometown Charleston Battery.
We left in between games and went to see one of our favorite bands Switchfoot live downtown at the Music Farm.
It was a great weekend but greatly looking forward to Wednesday's doubleheader of Seattle vs Houston Dynamo and then Charleston Battery vs DC United!

USA-Panama; Seattle Sounders-New York Red Bulls
USA vs. Panama
The summer months are such a dry time for us diehard soccer fans. With the European leagues over, I had decided to devote my time to supporting the USA National Team as they seek their 5th Gold Cup title and a berth in the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil. After not winning their group, the USA advanced in second spot and has since then started to play better as a unit. With two game-changing substitutions against Panama, the Yanks pulled out a 1-0 win and will face our neighbors to the south Saturday night.
Mexico has won three of the last four Gold Cups; the last win being a 5-0 victory over the USA in 2009. I believe we have a strong chance at winning the final. This belief stems from having one of the best goalkeepers around and some gritty, hard-working players such as Dempsey, Goodson, Bradley and Bedoya. I was greatly impressed by Alejandro Bedoya in the last game as he threw his body into challenges and was never afraid to mix it up. I never once saw him on the ground. I will be fully behind my team tomorrow night and hope we will all be proud of their performance: win or loss.
Seattle Sounders vs. New York Red Bulls
I am impressed by everything about the Seattle Sounders. Last night's game saw them hosting the New York Red Bulls at Century Link Stadium before 46,065 people and a nationally televised audience. It was the largest Sounders crowd for an MLS match. The Sounders came out pressuring like crazy and the result was two goals in as many minutes (11th and 12th minutes). Both goals came as a result of bad clearances from corner kicks. The first goal was Swede Erik Friberg's first goal for the Sounders. The second goal came as a result of Osvaldo Alonso's shot through a crowd of people and finding the back of the net.
The New York Red Bulls would fight back though and tie the game at 2-2 and it made for even more excitement. In the second half, Roger Levesque came off the bench and scored his first two goals of the season in dramatic fashion. The third goal was a glancing header from the back of Levesque's head. The fourth goal and nail in the coffin was a comedy of errors. With the ball being passed back to the Red Bull goalkeeper Sutton, he made a mess of it and Levesque pressured him and stole the ball to easily slot it home. The funniest part was the great celebration that saw Levesque do the scuba diver routine and fall backwards off the side boards and knock the wind out of himself.
I can safely say this game was the best MLS game I can recall watching. At work today, my boss even mentioned he had watched the first half and I was impressed. The Seattle and Portland soccer organizations are doing their best to promote this sport. The fans are doing their part as well. It made the game even more exciting to see the amazing support of the Emerald City Supporters. One of my favorite parts was the fans all holding up huge fake yellow cards after a Red Bulls foul. Seattle as a team has a lot of flair. This fits the city well and it a result of good scouting and player selection. With no MLS teams in my nearby area, I thought I would start to follow DC United but Seattle is a lot more attractive to me as a soccer team and organization. I am excited for the future of Major League Soccer......
